OBERHAUSEN, Germany \u2013 In a bout charged with drama and adrenaline, Cuban prospect Jadier Herrera captured the vacant WBC Interim Lightweight world title after defeating the seasoned Panamanian Ricardo \u201cEl Cient\u00edfico\u201d N\u00fa\u00f1ez by technical knockout in the eighth round.<\/p>\n

The fight, held at the Rudolf Weber Arena as part of the historic Queensberry card, lived up to the expectations of the 14,000+ fans, delivering a true war inside the ring.<\/p>\n

The road to glory was rocky for Herrera; as in the opening stages, N\u00fa\u00f1ez proved dangerous by sending the Cuban to the canvas, forcing an immediate strategic tactical shift.
