The World Boxing Council Introduces \u201cWBC Champion Essentials\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A new program aimed at preserving the long-term safety and well\u2010being of fighters around the world both on and off the ring<\/em><\/p>\n

The World Boxing Council kicked off the month of December with a brand-new program as it launched an initiative called \u201cWBC Champion Essentials\u201d. This program takes great strides in helping fighters all over thrive off the ring just like they succeed on it with the involvement of WBC Boxing University, WBC Cares and WBC BoxMed.<\/p>\n

The concept of the program is as simple as it is vital: Providing the tools for fighters to organize themselves in the form of a checklist that provides them advice and resources on subjects such as financial well-being, mental\/physical health and navigating today\u2019s social media landscape.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to express our gratitude to the Texas Boxing Commission (TDLR) for joining the WBC in our inaugural \u2018Champion Essentials\u2019 program,\u201d WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said. \u201cThis initiative aims to look after the well-being of fighters around the world, which is always a priority for the World Boxing Council.\u201d<\/p>\n

The first \u201cCertificates of Completion\u201d were given out last week before the highly anticipated card headlined by Isaac Cruz and Lamont Roach, which showcased two outstanding champions in a hard-fought battle that ended in a majority draw decision and Cruz retaining his Interim WBC Super Lightweight Title.<\/p>\n

Cruz and Roach, who displayed his certificate proudly along with his mother, received their certificates before their fight. Cuba\u2019s own champion Erislandy Lara, who also prevailed in his own title defense on Saturday night in Texan soil, proudly posed with his diploma as well.<\/p>\n
