Badou Johannes Gabriel Jack was born on October 31, 1983, in Stockholm, Sweden, to a Gambian father and a Swedish mother. Before turning professional, he had a distinguished amateur career, winning multiple national championships in Sweden and representing Gambia at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, where he lost in the second round.<\/p>\n

After his Olympic stint, Jack made his professional debut in 2009. With a solid and disciplined career, he steadily rose to become a world champion in three different divisions: super middleweight, light heavyweight, and, currently, cruiserweight.<\/p>\n

His crowning achievement at 200 pounds came on February 26, 2023, when he defeated then-champion Ilunga Makabu by technical knockout in Saudi Arabia, capturing the World Boxing Council (WBC) belt. Subsequently, he was declared “champion in recess,” but reinstated as a champion in 2024.<\/p>\n

On May 3, 2025, he successfully defended his title against Armenian-German Noel Mikaelian in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The fight was close and very tactical, but Jack prevailed by majority decision with scorecards of 114-114, 115-113, and 115-113, thus solidifying his legacy.<\/p>\n
