Yafai and Rodr\u00edguez register with CBP<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Galal Yafai will defend his WBC interim flyweight title against Mexican Francisco “Chihuas” Rodr\u00edguez on June 21 at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

Matchroom, the event promoter, has enlisted the services of the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) to handle testing for both fighters as part of the Clean Boxing Program (CBP).<\/p>\n

Doping is considered an unsportsmanlike practice because it dishonestly enhances performance and is strictly prohibited in all sports. Particular importance is placed on combat sports, as it can cause irreversible damage that not only puts health at risk. Therefore, we congratulate Matchroom for its strong commitment to our sport.<\/p>\n

Yafai, from Birmingham and a gold medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, has not been in action since stopping Sunny Edwards in six rounds last November.<\/p>\n

The victory was a breakthrough performance for Yafai (9-0, 7 KOs), who now looks to take another step forward against veteran Rodr\u00edguez Jr., who is trained by Eddy Reynoso.<\/p>\n

Rodr\u00edguez Jr. (38-6-1, 26 KOs) is a former straw weight champion looking to conquer a new division.<\/p>\n

The winner will face WBC flyweight champion Kenshiro Teraji, one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world today.<\/p>\n
