Galal Yafai keen for WBC interim title defence against Chihuas Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Galal Yafai will defend his WBC interim flyweight title against Mexican Francisco “Chihuas” Rodr\u00edguez on June 21 at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

Yafai, a Brummie and 2020 Tokyo Olympic gold medalist, has been out of action since stopping Sunny Edwards in six rounds last November.<\/p>\n

The victory was a breakout performance for Yafai (9-0, 7 KOs), who now looks to take another step forward against the veteran Rodr\u00edguez Jr., who is trained by Eddy Reynoso.<\/p>\n

Rodr\u00edguez Jr. (38-6-1, 26 KOs) is a former strawweight champion looking to conquer a new division.<\/p>\n

The winner will face WBC flyweight champion Kenshiro Teraji from Japan, one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.<\/p>\n

The fight card will be streamed live on<\/p>\n
