Brain Cancer Awareness Month – Gray in May<\/strong>: The WBC Presents Commemorative Belt to Honor JessZilla<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The World Boxing Council (WBC) will present special gray belt \u201c Gray in May \u201c as a tribute to honor Brain Cancer Awareness month during a transcendental fight \u00a0this weeked:<\/p>\n

The upcoming undisputed super bantamweight match between Naoya Inoue\u00a0 vs. Ramon Cardenas in Las Vegas on May 4th<\/sup>\u00a0will honor the late Jesselyn \u201cJessZilla\u201d Silva, a three-time National Champion and the eternal star who is the inspiration of the award-winning documentary JessZilla.<\/p>\n

This marks the official launch of the WBC\u2019s \u201cGray in May\u201d campaign, in partnership \u00a0with CURE Childhood center and aligning with Brain Cancer Awareness Month by reinforcing the organization\u2019s deep commitment to causes that matter both inside and outside the ring.<\/p>\n

As part of the campaign, Naoya Inoue and Ramon Cardenas are appointed \u00a0as a WBC Cares Ambassadors for Brain Cancer Awareness, helping to amplify the message globally.<\/p>\n

“The WBC has always stood for heart, courage, and purpose,” said Mauricio Sulaim\u00e1n, president of the WBC. “This May, we go gray for Jesselyn and for every family impacted by brain cancer. We hope this belt becomes a symbol of strength and solidarity in the fight for a cure.”<\/p>\n

The tribute comes amid the ongoing theatrical release of JessZilla, a powerful documentary directed by Emily Sheskin, produced by Ben Kainz, and executive produced by Versus. With over 25 official festival selections and six awards, the film follows Jesselyn\u2019s rise in the boxing world and her fight against brain cancer, spotlighting the unwavering bond between Jess and her father, Pedro Silva, who continues to champion her legacy.<\/p>\n

“Doctors gave Jess a year. She gave us three. In my eyes, she won,\u201d said Pedro Silva. \u201cThis belt, this moment is a reminder that her fight continues through every life we touch.”<\/p>\n

In partnership with CURE Childhood Cancer, the JessZilla team has launched the Jesselyn \u201cJessZilla\u201d Silva Fund, which aims to support families affected by brain cancer and drive critical research. Proceeds from screenings and awareness events in May will support this effort.<\/p>\n
