He is the only Mexican to win an Olympic medal and become a world champion. He won the silver medal at the 1972 Munich Games.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\">Alfonso was very moved by the celebration:<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\">Baby- faced back then and still fresh-faced and handsome now, he smiled: &#8220;Very happy, 50 years in which many things have happened. I am very grateful to God for allowing me to be here today with you, recounting what I have been through.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\">He took\u00a0 the microphones to thank the World Boxing Council and to remember Jos\u00e9 Sulaiman.<\/p>\n<p class=\"elementtoproof\">&#8220;Jos\u00e9 Sulaiman was the catalyst for my recovery.
