Tyson Pedro crowned WBC International Bridgerweight champion<\/strong><\/h2>\n

UFC star Tyson Pedro (1-0-0, 1 KO) captured the WBC International Bridger title by defeating previously undefeated Pakistani Taimoor Khan (15-1-0, 13 KOs) at the Panthers Rugby League Club in Penrith, Australia.<\/p>\n

Tyson pulled off a dominant victory, displaying great qualities and looking far superior to his rival, scoring a seventh-round knockout.<\/p>\n

He showed great composure throughout the fight and took advantage of opportunities when they presented themselves, before dishing out total punishment to end Khan’s night.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old new WBC International champion commented after the fight:<\/p>\n

“It was always meant to happen. This is the smallest crowd I’ve fought in front of in a long time but it’s the biggest fight of my life. Thank you all for coming.<\/p>\n

“The journey we’re on is meant to be and looks like it’s impossible… thank you to everyone who supported me and believed in me.<\/p>\n

“You have no idea how hard this is and now I want to make it my mission to represent Australia and my culture on the world stage for my family. I know I looked pretty calm but I haven’t slept in a while, there’s been pressure.<\/p>\n

“Everyone said I was crazy to leave the UFC so now that I’m doing it… I’m very proud of myself. I went through hell to get here but it’s a pride to win the WBC International title.”<\/p>\n

Tyson Pedro fought fifteen UFC bouts winning ten with five wins by KO and five losses. Prior to this he fought as an amateur winning all five of his fights and winning a title in New South Wales.<\/p>\n

Tyson has taken boxing very seriously, training with experienced fighters to arrive in optimal conditions for his long-awaited debut in professional boxing.<\/p>\n

Pedro, named Tyson in honor of the great “Iron” Mike, was born in Sydney to Australian parents of Samoan origin. His father John is considered a great promoter of the sport in his country, who has undoubtedly supported his son in his foray into mixed martial arts and now boxing.<\/p>\n
