“Canelo” Alvarez took an important step towards the unification of the middleweight division with a UD win over Daniel Jacobs.<\/div>\n

The T-Mobile Arena was packed. Most of the fans were there to support the Mexican fighter; although Daniel Jacobs managed to win a sector of the public by presenting himself as a dangerous opponent, ready to take the fight to its ultimate consequences, with an all effort challenge.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Saul “Canelo” \u00c1lvarez won the first half of the fight, always going forward, trying to land hard shots on an elusive Jacobs, who started the fight cautiously due to the ever present \u00a0threat presented by the Mexican.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Jacobs got into the fight fully using his distance and ability. Round 8 was the most exciting, Jacobs landed hard, but Alvarez responded with a stinging combination that hurt Jacobs.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Mexican, opened up with a blistering attack, only to get tagged with a hard well directed left hook.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The following rounds were very tactical. Both made use of their jab, dodging \u00a0blows, with more waist movement than fancy footwork. Jacobs even changed guard a couple of times, seeking openings.<\/div>\n

For round 12, both went at it with everything they had, trying to connect their best shots although the Referee had to ask for “time out” \u00a0in order to wipe the center of the ring.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

When the action resumed, the same dynamic continued, Saul tried to connect powerful uppers, Jacobs used his distance to cause damage.<\/div>\n

Sa\u00fal \u00c1lvarez won the victory by unanimous decision (115-113, 115-113 and 116-112). He thanked his fans for their support and said he’s \u00a0committed to face the very best. “Canelo” also said he’s looking to sweep the division and wants to fight\u00a0Demetrius Andrade. He commented about \u00a0the possibility of fighting \u00a0against “GGG” for the third time.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Daniel Jacobs thanked fans \u00a0for their support, promising \u00a0that he’ll \u00a0return to train hard, that he would talk to his team regarding his future and that although he had a brilliant performance, but \u00a0he has to learn to get into the fight in the initial rounds.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

With this win, \u00a0Saul defended his crowns of the World Boxing Council and WBA and added the IBF belt.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
