Ricardo “Finito” Lopez Joins #HajimeNoIppo<\/em> Creator<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In the tradition of Japanese animation, Hajime No Ippo stands tall!\u00a0created by artist Jyoji Morikawa. In America,<\/p>\n

The series was called Fighting Spirit. It is the story of a young Japanese man, Ippo Makunouchi, who seeks to make his way in world boxing.<\/p>\n

During the series, while Ippo is defeating rivals and achieving his goals, a Mexican fighter named Ricardo Martinez appears. This character, as Jyoji Morikawa himself revealed, is inspired by the legendary Mexican champion Ricardo “Finito” Lopez.<\/p>\n

Morikawa had the opportunity to meet Finito Lopez and give him an original drawing of the character from the successful series Hajime No Ippo. This meeting which drew a large crowd, was penciled in for\u00a0the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, during a memorable boxing card.<\/p>\n
