On this day in history, Franco Udella became the first WBC Lt. flyweight champion\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

April 4, 1975<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Franco Udella, from Italy, became the first WBC light flyweight Champion. He won by disqualification in 12 rounds of a fight scheduled for 15. The Mexican contender was, Valent\u00edn \u201cDuende\u201d Mart\u00ednez. The bout took place at the San Siro Stadium of Milan. The third man in the ring was Raymond Baldeyrou. Udella’s reign as Champion was brief, as he wasn’t prepared to defend his belt against Rafeal Lovera, and recognition was withdrawn.<\/span><\/p>\n
