Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame 2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

A variety of truly great fabulous boxers will be honored by the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame at the spectacular Annual Induction Weekend on August 9 and 10, 2019, at the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Induced new members were announced at a press conference hosted by NVBHOF Founder Rich Marotta and NVBHOF Inducted 2014, “Colonel” Bob Sheridan.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Executive Director and President Michelle Corrales-Lewis said: “I am extremely excited about this year’s class, I think it’s one of the most glamorous of all!”<\/p>\n

BERNARD “THE EXECUTIONER” HOPKINS: The magnificent “Executioner” won several world titles, being the first male boxer to simultaneously hold world titles of the four main organizations and became the oldest boxer to win a world championship.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

JUAN MANUEL “DINAMITA” MARQUEZ: Considered one of the finest Mexican champions of all time. An excellent puncher and superb technician, nicknamed “Dynamite” Marquez participated in an iconic series of 4 fights with Manny Pacquaio, all of them in Las Vegas. He won world titles in 4 divisions.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

RONALD “WINKY” WRIGHT: Maestro of the boxing\u00a0ring who could use its 20 foot gauge to overcome, maneuver and defeat his opponents. His resume includes victories over Trinidad, Mosley and Quartey.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

HUMBERTO “CHIQUITA” GONZALEZ: One of the greatest and most spectacular exponents in the minimum weights. He won 2 out of 3 matches in his epic trilogy with Michael Carbajal, losing only one battle in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

VINNY “THE PAZMANIAN DEVIL” PAZ. \u00a0The Pazmanian, winner of multiple world titles and a 1994 decision on Roberto Duran in Las Vegas. His unique story includes the incredible return after a near fatal car accident, narrated in the movie “Bleed for This”.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“TERRIBLE” TERRY NORRIS: The true epitome of “boxer-puncher” and was a regular fighter\u00a0 in Las Vegas with 14 fights in Nevada. Possessor of a great speed of feet and powerful hands\u00a0dexterity,\u00a0Terry \u00a0faced champions John Mugabi, Donald Curry, Meldrick Taylor and Simon Brown\u00a0plus \u00a0the legendary Sugar Ray Leonard.<\/p>\n

BOBBY CHACON (posthumous): Immensely popular champion who participated in the Fight of the Year in 1982 vs Bazooka Limon and ’83 vs. Cornelius Boza-Edwards.<\/p>\n

Nevada Resident Boxers<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

JOEL “EL CEPILLO” CASAMAYOR: He fought 12 times in Nevada. An intelligent and\u00a0smart \u00a0fighter. He won the WBA world titles of 130 pounds and the WBC of 135 pounds. He won 2 out of 3 in his epic trilogy with Diego Corrales. He fought almost 400 fights as an amateur and won the 1992 Olympic Gold medal in Barcelona.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

WAYNE “POCKET ROCKET” McCULLOUGH: One of the most famous and popular fighters from Ireland, who lived in Las Vegas during and after his career. He reached the final of the 1992 Olympic Games, where he lost the decision to Joel Casamayor. He returned to Ireland with the Silver Medal as a great hero. After only two years as a professional, he traveled to Japan and accomplished the difficult task of defeating Yasukio Yakushiji to win the WBC bantamweight title.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

HASIM “THE ROCK” RAHMAN: Longtime resident of Las Vegas, \u00a0Hasim won \u00a0the heavyweight title of the\u00a0IBF and the WBC. He had two\u00a0magical spells \u00a0as a champion. His first fight against Lennox Lewis was his\u00a0most spectacular\u00a0victory as he obtained an impressive KO in South Africa.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

LEROY “IRISH” HALEY (posthumous): He fought 49 times in Nevada, more than any other current or past NVBHOF member. He won the WBC 140-pound title in 1983, defeated the outstanding champion Saoul Mamby and repeated the victory later in the rematch.<\/p>\n

FLOYD MAYWEATHER SR.: Best known for training his son Floyd Jr. and Oscar de la Hoya. He is justly famous for teaching defensive techniques of The Noble Art. \u00a0He has also trained Chad Dawson, Laila Ali and Ricky Hatton. He also had a successful professional boxing career with a record of 28-6-1.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

DUANE FORD: A highly respected long-time judge in Nevada, \u00a0and Duane was President of the North American Boxing Federation (NABF). Resides in Las Vegas. He judged over 600 fights, including some of the biggest bouts of all time.<\/p>\n
