Joe Louis will be honored on May 17th in Nevada<\/strong><\/h2>\n

On May 17th at the Clark County Government Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, a well-deserved tribute will be held to one of the greatest heavyweights in history, Joe Louis.<\/p>\n

During the celebration, Joe Louis’ family will be honored and Louis’ contributions both professionally and personally, will be recognized by state, federal and local US governments.<\/p>\n

Louis was a boxing legend who broke many racial barriers and was a civil rights pioneer. He was widely viewed as the first African American to be elevated to national hero status in the United States.<\/p>\n

Joe’s achievements in boxing are truly remarkable. He held the title for almost 12 years and defended it 25 times. He also had the most first-round knockouts in defending heavyweight title fights. Additionally, he knocked out five former world heavyweight champions, a record that still stands to this day.<\/p>\n

Despite a four-year hiatus to serve his country, Joe Louis’ accomplishments in the ring remain unmatched. He is undoubtedly one of the best heavyweights of all time.<\/p>\n

The WBC will participate in this tribute with a belt that will be presented to Louis’ family in honor of his life and his legacy.<\/p>\n
