Shawn Porter retains WBC welterweight title via majority decision<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Shawn Porter defeated Yordenis Ugas by split decisi\u00f3n retaining his WBC welterweight title at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Porter looked for the knockout from the beginning of the fight, but he faced a skillful Ugas, who now has a record of 23-4 and came to this fight confident with eight wins in a row.<\/p>\n

In the middle rounds, Ug\u00e1s and Porter exchanged blows, with Porter using the speed to keep the Cuban\u00a0off \u00a0balance, but Ugas responded counter-attacking.well and effectively.<\/p>\n

Porter improved his record to 30-2 with a draw in his first title defense. He won the belt last September with a unanimous decision victory over Danny Garcia.<\/p>\n

Two judges awarded the fight to Porter with scores of 116-112 and 115-113, while the third saw Ugas winning with 117-111.<\/p>\n
