Yamileth \u201cYeimi\u201d Mercado will defend her World Boxing Council super bantamweight world title for the seventh time and on this occasion against Peruvian challenger Linda Laura Lecca, this Saturday 27th<\/sup> at the Nuevo Toreo in Tijuana, Mexico.<\/p>\n

Mercado is considered one of the strongest world champions of the moment. She won the world super bantamweight crown in November 2019, defeating Fatuma Zarika in a rematch.<\/p>\n

She has defended her belt against Alejandra Guzm\u00e1n, Isis Vargas, Mariana Ju\u00e1rez, as well as the African Kudakwashe Chiwandire.<\/p>\n

Laura Lecca was Super Flyweight world champion between 2014 and 2018. She has already faced and defeated Mexican fighters, among them: Diana \u201cBonita\u201d Fern\u00e1ndez. Now she arrives more than motivated to become WBC world champion.<\/p>\n

\u201cWomen’s fights are a guarantee of spectacle. I think it will be a tough fight. She comes with the hunger to be crowned champion, but I am ready to defend my crown.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0I am happy for the opportunity to unify soon but I can’t talk about those plans until I defeat my rival.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
