Remembering The Great Alexis Arg\u00fcello<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Andr\u00e9s Alexis Arg\u00fcello Bohorquez was born in Managua, Nicaragua, on April 19th, 1952.
\nAlexis was one of the most brilliant boxers in history. He was a triple world champion, reigning at featherweight, super featherweight and lightweight.<\/p>\n

His spectacularity and his great efficiency in the ring made him a superstar who did the most important thing of his career in the ring in the United States.<\/p>\n

He was nicknamed the \u201cSkinny Explosive\u201d for his thin physique, unusual height for his division and the tremendous power that he judiciously possesses in his fists, which led him to win 62 times by knockout in a total of 77 victories that he achieved throughout his career.
\nHe fought professionally from 1968 to 1995.<\/p>\n

Alexis is considered among the best in history in the three divisions in which he was world champion.<\/p>\n

At one point in his career, he decided to invade super lightweight and contested Aaron Pryor\u2019s respective world crown twice.<\/p>\n

In the first fight between them they offered such a fabulous show that \u201cThe Ring\u201d magazine in New York considered it the \u201cFight of the Decade\u201d (80s).<\/p>\n

In 2008 during the Beijing Olympic Games, he was the flag bearer of the Nicaraguan Team.
\nAlexis is inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, New York.
\nToday we fondly remember Alexis with great affection and recognition of his greatness as a man and as a boxer.<\/p>\n
