Light for Peace will illuminate Mexico<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Alfredo Harp Hel\u00fa Foundation for Sports, announced the activities it will carry out in commemoration of the International Day of Sports for Development and Peace to be celebrated on April 6.<\/p>\n

One of the objectives of the event is to put sport at the service of humanity and promote a peaceful society and healthy lifestyles, associated with culture and education and safeguarding human dignity without any discrimination, explained the director of the FAHH Sports, the Olympic medalist Daniel Aceves Villagr\u00e1n.<\/p>\n

Because 2024 is an Olympic and Paralympic year, a torch tour called \u201cLight for Peace\u201d was scheduled to reach emblematic monuments, principally the Olympic Stadium of Ciudad Universitaria, the Z\u00f3calo of Mexico City, the Monument of the Revolution, among others, coordinated by Pedro Mart\u00ednez Balderas, an expert in this type of logistics. Activities will span March 6 to April 6.<\/p>\n

The Foundation and its allies formed a grand alliance with the Government of Mexico, along with its strategy: \u201cTogether for Peace\u201d a social call to recover the sensitivity of our society to listen, understand and care for each other, all united, in search of a common transformation, Aceves added.<\/p>\n

The torch, which burns bright as a flame of peace encapsulates a meaning far beyond what the commemoration itself is. And that`s why it is important that our allies contribute, so that this date has an important impact, enbodying the causes that the public and private sector continue to support sport, indicated Aceves Villagr\u00e1n.<\/p>\n

On August 19, 2013, the United Nations General Assembly in Resolution 67 \/ L. 77 proclaimed April 6 as the \u201cInternational Day of Sports for Development and Peace\u201d, an anniversary that corresponds to the date on which The first Olympic Games of the modern era were inaugurated in Athens on April 6, 1896.<\/p>\n

The Secretary of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of Mexico City (SECTEI), Dr. Ofelia \u00c1ngulo Guerrero, commented that practicing sports and healthy eating help counteract the deadly effects of diabetes in Mexico. \u201cNo one should die from this disease because it is one hundred percent preventable and it is a paradox that it is the second cause of death in our country.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event was also attended by the President of the World Wrestling Council, Salvador Lutteroth Lomel\u00ed; the secretary of Educational Services of the National Polytechnic Institute, Marco Antonio Sosa Palacios and the General Director of Grupo Mart\u00ed, Luis Miguel Rodr\u00edguez Penagos.<\/p>\n

The member of the Sports Values for Development and Peace Foundation, H\u00e9ctor Sulaim\u00e1n de La Rosa, the fighters Titan and Atlantis; Olympic medalist Carlos Mercenario; professional boxer Mariana \u201cLa Barby\u201d Ju\u00e1rez; the head of the High Performance Section of SEDENA, Lieutenant Colonel Leticia Y\u00e1\u00f1ez; the director of Prevention of Youth Integration Centers, Miriam Carrillo and the president of the National Organization of War Gangs, Rafael Dom\u00ednguez are also key participants.<\/p>\n

Representatives of the Mexican Social Security Institute, UNESCO Mexico Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mexican Paralympic Committee, National Autonomous University of Mexico and Mexico City Sports Institute also attended.<\/p>\n
