Profile Of Courage<\/strong><\/h2>\n

It`s not possible to win every battle, rather it`s the extraordinary courage of the fight against untimely, ultimately \u00a0overwhelming \u00a0odds, \u00a0which is admirable, \u00a0magnificent\u2026 and so very humbling.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This is the memorable legacy and the profile of grace, beauty \u00a0and sheer courage which was displayed with radiant smiles and uncomplaining bravery by Hannah Lyson,\u00a0 the daughter of Mark and Beth Lyson.\u00a0 Mark is a coach at Anfield Boxing Club and a world class International\u00a0 Referee.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In 2016 Hannah aged just nineteen was diagnosed with bowel \u00a0cancer.\u00a0 Rather than withdraw into \u00a0herself,\u00a0 Hannah sought to find out about this terrible illness which rarely strikes young people, but wasn`t able to discover very much information because scant data was available. So she decided to chronicle her illness via a blog which she entitled: Hannah`s Bowel Cancer Journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It impressed and inspired people the World over.\u00a0 Thousands avidly followed \u00a0her \u00a0marvelous narratives and there were hundreds of thousands of hits, which continue to this very day.<\/p>\n

From the moment Hannah was diagnosed in 2016, until the day she passed away at just twenty , Hannah only had eight precious, so brief months to share her experiences, with candor, honesty and\u00a0 poignant elegance writing: \u201cIt`s unreal how much I want to live. I`m fighting to win.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Her Father Mark remembers: \u201cWhen Hannah was diagnosed with bowel\/colon cancer in May 2016, it was absolutely devastating for our family. It is a very rare cancer for someone so young and there was very little information she could find. So Hannah set up an online blog.\u201d http:\/\/aworthwhileadventure.wordpress.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n

Hannah`s Bowel\u00a0 Cancer Journey\u00a0 is also\u00a0 on a Facebook\u00a0 page.\u00a0 It`s a must\u00a0 read if you admire courage!<\/p>\n

Mark continues:\u00a0 \u201cHannah documented everything \u00a0good and bad. This was to raise awareness for bowel\/colon cancer and to emphasize how important\u00a0 it is\u00a0 to know the symptoms and get checked by a doctor to help understand\u00a0 the process if diagnosed. \u00a0Hannah did all of this while trying to herself come to terms with having cancer. \u00a0Hannah spent a lot of time in hospital in Teenage Cancer Trust Unit and she raised thousands of pounds for it.\u00a0 This made us so very proud of her at a very sad time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many people suffer from irritable bowel\u00a0 syndrome and Mark stresses\u00a0 that it`s vitally important for anyone who has doubts or suspicions that there`s\u00a0 a more serious underlying condition, to get screened as soon as possible because early diagnosis is so crucial.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

When \u00a0someone so young and so absolutely brimming with promise and potential dies so very young, there an awful\u00a0 lingering, gnawing sense of loss, \u00a0coupled with lonely longing. What might have been that will never come to pass.\u00a0 Mark\u00a0 described it in terms of:\u00a0 \u201cI don`t feel\u00a0 very religious, but\u00a0 I do feel\u00a0 that a presence which is still there looking down on me\u2026and\u00a0 I\u00a0 just want Hannah to be proud\u00a0 of things\u00a0 I do.\u00a0 I want her to think my Dad`s a good man. So it does inspire me and I want to do good things.\u00a0 It may sound daft but that`s just how I feel.\u201c<\/p>\n

And that`s exactly how the Boxing Family also felt.\u00a0 Hannah passed away surrounded by her Family at her bedside on January 28th <\/sup>\u00a02017. That following Saturday at every Boxing show in the UK, there was a Ten Bells Tribute. Mark recalls: \u201cThat was amazing for us. It was lovely.\u00a0 Boxing\u00a0 News also did an article. So did Boxing Monthly and The Ring Magazine.\u00a0 It was a very nice Tribute for me, my Wife and the Family to read.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cHannah always had\u00a0 such a peaceful, wonderful\u00a0 smile. She was so positive all the way through.\u00a0 Me and my Wife knew what was coming. But Hannah was always so upbeat about everything.\u00a0 She and we so hoped she could beat it. She was always positive, right up until the end. \u00a0Some fights you can`t win. Rather it`s the fight in you\u2026I can`t\u00a0 really express the words.\u00a0 It`s\u00a0 the fighting spirit you show throughout.\u00a0 It`s\u00a0 so very sad for us, \u00a0but we are so very, very proud of Hannah.\u00a0 Seven years have passed and it`s heartbreaking\u00a0 for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, the Mother of President John F \u00a0Kennedy and US Attorney General \u00a0Bobby Kennedy,\u00a0 once reflected:\u00a0 \u201cIt has been said that time heals all wounds. I don`t agree. The wounds remain. Time-the mind protecting its sanity, cover them with some scar tissue and the pain lessons, but it`s never gone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hannah Lyson`s\u00a0 testament\u00a0 to her battle with bowel\u00a0 cancer and her spirit which lives on\u00a0 forever \u00a0is: \u00a0A\u00a0 Profile of Courage.\u00a0 For eight months,\u00a0 she fought with everything\u00a0 she possessed, giving her all without complaining whilst giving hope to others, who \u00a0one day might be walking the same fateful path.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Nelson Mandela once said: \u201cI learned that courage\u00a0 is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Napoleon Bonaparte said: \u201cCourage isn`t having the strength to go on. It`s going on when you don`t have the strength.\u00a0 It`s\u00a0 not the strength of the body that counts, but the strength of spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the final words are Hannah Nicole Lyson`s.\u00a0 She held a special fund raising night and at this point she was very poorly, but determined to see it through to success, saying: \u201cI want to inspire people. I\u00a0 want someone to look at me and say\u2026BECAUSE OF YOU, I DIDN`T GIVE\u00a0 UP.\u201d<\/p>\n
