Shigeoka poised to defend WBC title in Japan<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In Tokyo, Japan, Japanese promoter and former world champion, Koki Kameda, officially announced that Japan’s Shigeoka brothers, Yudai and Ginjiro, will be in action on March 31, defending their respective world titles at the Nagoya International Conference Hall from the city of Nagoya, capital of the province of Hyogo, Japan,\u00a0 organized by Kameda Promotions.<\/p>\n

The older brother and unbeaten southpaw Yudai Shigeoka (8-0\/5KOs, 26 years old) is the straw king of the World Boxing Council, and will face the #6 ranked and former world champion, Filipino Melvin \u201cGringo\u201d Jerusalem (21-3\/ 12KOs), 29 years old, trying to make the first defense of his crown.<\/p>\n

Shigeoka won the WBC interim crown by defeating Puerto Rican Wilfredo \u201cBimbito\u201d M\u00e9ndez by KO in the seventh round. He later faced Thai champion Panya Pradabsri, defeating him by unanimous decision to become the only champion in the WBC’s straw division.<\/p>\n

Younger brother and undefeated southpaw Ginjiro Shigeoka (10-0\/8KOs), 24, will defend his IBF straw crown against Filipino Arar \u201cAsero\u201d Andales (14-2-3\/6KOs), 24.<\/p>\n

The Shigeoka brothers’ fights will be broadcast live on Abema TV.<\/p>\n
