Unfazed Beterbiev and Smith…Let`s face it!<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Undefeated light heavyweight knockout king Artur Beterbiev will face former world champion Callum Smith this Saturday, January 13 at the Videotron Center in Quebec, Canada.<\/p>\n

Beterbiev (19-0, 19 KOs), the only current world boxing champion with a 100 percent knockout rate, is coming off a thrilling eighth-round TKO in January over Anthony Yarde in Yarde’s hometown of London. .
\nSmith (29-1, 21 KO’s), from Liverpool, England, is a former super middleweight world champion and winner of the WBSS Tournament in the same division. He has won two fights since he moved up to light heavyweight after being defeated by decision by Canelo Alvarez in December 2020.<\/p>\n

At the final press conference prior to the fight the two were polite and respectful.<\/p>\n

Artur Beterbiev<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited, just like I am for every fight. For this fight, we prepared like we usually do, which is at 100 percent.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m focused on this fight. I\u2019m happy that my supporters are coming to watch us. But I have things to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Callum Smith<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m here to do a job. I\u2019m here to become a world champion again. I\u2019m here with my team. And as long as I\u2019m with them, I can be anywhere and feel like home. I\u2019m in a good place mentally and physically, and I\u2019m ready to perform.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will be exciting. He\u2019s a very good fighter. He\u2019s a three-belt champion. So, his achievements speak for themselves. But, I believe in myself. I always have. I believe that the best version of me can beat anyone in the world. I fully stand by that.”<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve improved a lot over the last couple of years with {my trainer} Buddy McGirt. And the time is now. I\u2019m ready to become a two-division world champion. I\u2019m being presented with the opportunity this weekend, and it\u2019s an opportunity I plan on taking.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRegardless of whether the crowd is cheering for me or against me, I\u2019m there to do a job. My focus is on my opponent. It\u2019s nice to have people cheering for you. But if they\u2019re not, I\u2019m still there to do the same thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a good fighter. He\u2019s a complete. He\u2019s No. 1 for a reason. But at the end of the day, Artur has been boxing since he was nine. He\u2019s seen everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always good {for him to start camp in Russia}. It\u2019s a protocol that we\u2019ve had for a long time. We\u2019ve had success with that protocol. He goes to a high altitude to start training camp the right way and make sure he\u2019s not starting the real camp at zero.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s very underrated. I think a lot of people underestimate him. He\u2019s going to really showcase what he can do on Saturday night.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t go into the fight thinking about his record. We know what\u2019s in front of us. We\u2019re not stupid. We know that it\u2019s a tough test. We\u2019re prepared for that. If you\u2019re worried about that, you\u2019re in the wrong business.\u201d<\/p>\n
