World Boxing Council Celebrates Women’s Equality Day
The World Boxing Council (WBC) joins the commemoration of Women’s Equality Day, reaffirming its dedication to promoting fairness, respect, and opportunities for women in boxing worldwide.
August 26 marks the certification of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution, which granted women the right to vote—a historic milestone that inspires the continued fight for gender equality in all spheres of life, including sports.
The WBC has been a pioneering advocate for women’s boxing, paving the way for female athletes to demonstrate their talent, strength, and determination in the ring. In recent years, women’s boxing has experienced unprecedented growth, thanks in large part to efforts to ensure equitable pay, media coverage, and visibility for female fighters.
Women’s Equality Day is a reminder to honor the pioneers who blazed a trail and to redouble our efforts to build a future where opportunities are limitless for all women in boxing, from athletes to officials and beyond.
The commemoration of this day is a call to action for everyone in the boxing community: promoters, trainers, media, and fans. All are invited to celebrate the achievements of female athletes and to join in the commitment to continue the fight for equality.
