WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder says a rematch with Tyson Fury will be announced within the next two weeks.
“The fight will be announced very soon, maybe in two weeks. We’ll put everything in order and then we’ll have another epic fight,” Wilder told the Fighthype.com news website.
This was Fury’s third fight after a temporary retirement since November 2015, before which he defeated Wladimir Klitschko.
The first epic combat between these warriors was thrilling, well matching technical and tactical fighter Fury, against knockout artist Wilder, who made heavy weather of some parts of the fight. But then rallied to gain a well-deserved draw. Knockdowns he landed on Fury, who visited the canvass in the ninth and twelfth rounds, were punctuating factors.
The World Boxing Council, through the Board of Governors, conducted a vote, which resulted in a unanimous agreement to sanction a direct rematch between the two warriors.
