2025 has been a busy bee time for the WBC and it’s created quite a buzz!
We’ll be highlighting the organization’s iconic moments from this first half of the year.
The Riyadh Season WBC Boxing Grand Prix has introduced several exciting innovations to boost excitement and transparency in boxing. One of the most notable is the 30-second buzzer.
At the Riyadh Season WBC Boxing Grand Prix, a buzzer or chime, sounds 30 seconds before the end of each round. This implementation was announced during the weigh-in, and a sound presentation was even given for fighters to familiarize themselves with the charming chiming or buzzing timer.
The reason behind this innovation is clear: to encourage greater activity and dynamism from boxers in the final part of each round. By alerting boxers that only 30 seconds remain, it’s expected that they will increase intensity, seek combinations, and deliver a more thrilling finish for the audience, while simultaneously solidifying their position in the scoring, emulating float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. A buzz…No bumbling!
