WBC Silver light flyweight Champion Seniesa “Superbad” Estrada, didn`t hang around in her most recent fight, with a KO of Miranda Adkins in just seven seconds at Fantasy Springs, Indio, California!
The fastest KO in Women`s Boxing, it was appreciably quicker than even the great Jack Dempsey, who stopped Fred Fulton in 18.3 seconds in their 1918 brief encounter. A record which stood for many years.
Undefeated (19-0, 11 KO`s) Seniesa had ample time to talk with Jill Diamond and Victor Silva, during the eighty eighth edition of the WBC Pandemic talks. Seniesa, who`s name means Love, Power and Fire, is certainly living up to her name. She fell completely in love with boxing watching with her Dad, the bouts on television, and her heroine was Christy Martin. Dad was not in favor of Seniesa doing boxing. He worried that his eight year old daughter sparring with boys would burst into tears. But it proved the other way around, as Seniesa showed immediate promise, dedication and power!
Although her Dad is not Chief Coach, he`s been with Seniesa all the way through her amateur and pro career. She has fought in heavier weight divisions, but light fly is ideal because she walks around at close to this weight, and is eating correctly to stay trim. She feels comfortable at 105lbs or 108lbs. As an amateur Seniesa won one hundred times and only five losses. Many times, she was the only girl in the gym and mostly sparred with boys. Nowadays more and more girls and women are boxing, gaining respect little by little.
Seniesa`s first professional fight was on May 13th 2011, against Maria Ruiz, which she won by UD. She remembers she was nervous but more excited and thrilled, because the great Sergio Martinez was in the front row and asked to be photographed with her. Sergio also joined this session, to greet and wish Seniesa the best of luck.
At the start of her pro career Seniesa was sometimes inactive for seven or eight months. Now with Golden Boy Promotions, she is fighting much more regularly, much to the delight of her nieces and nephews. Her ambition is to win all four major titles at 108lbs. Seniesa is keen to take on WBC light flyweight Champion Yesenia Gomez! Seniesa`s boxing idols are: Roy Jones Jr, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran and Sergio Martinez.
On fight day, Seniesa doesn`t eat very much. No lunch, just a snack of peanuts, relaxing and prayer, in order to be focused and totally ready. In the training build up to this point, She daily does strength training, with light weights, but plenty of reps, plus plenty of sprinting. Mitt work, more than heavy bags, because it`s good defense, footwork. timing and offense practice.
The pandemic has given Seniesa the opportunity to complete writing four childrens` stories, which will soon be published. She is also keen to pursue an acting career.
As for advice for young girls who are thinking of taking up boxing Seniesa urges them to have faith, belief, determination and confidence in yourself. Never listen to someone who says that you can`t do it.
As for her most recent fight, Seniesa says: “I went in there and did what I`m supposed to do. I gave her no time to do anything. I started the fight extremely fast. The next step is to fight for a world title.”
