WBC TALKS, ROUND 41: “Cleto Reyes”, the gloves of champions

For Round  41 of our WBC TALKS, our  two guests are friends of the boxing family, continuing  the legacy of their father with honor.

Through their hard work, they continue to position the Cleto Reyes brand, as thenumber one in Mexico and the world.   We refer to Elizabeth Reyes, -daughter of our dear Alberto Reyes- and her husband Guillermo Moreno.

For Elizabeth Reyes, or as she is known in this WBC family, Eli, carries  the legacy of her grandfather with great responsibility, since both she and his father worked tirelessly to create and manufacture boxing products of the highest quality, always thinking about the safety and comfort of athletes.

Nostalgic when recalling the story of how Reyes started, Eli commented that the family is celebrating, because this year marks the 100^th anniversary of her grandfather’s birthday. She assured that her brothers and her husband learned from the very best.  Day in, day out, her Father input all of his effort, expertise, flair  and passion to always have an impeccable production, while innovating  and creating new products.

Cleto Reyes, is undoubtedly the most famous company in this area, exporting its products to countries on 5 continents and used by elite fighters plus  many of the great champions: Sugar Ray Leonard, Muhammad Ali, Manny Pacquiao, Julio César Chávez , Mike Tyson, Oscar de la Hoya, Juan Manuel Márquez to name just a few.

Responsibility, respect, honesty and especially loyalty are values that have led Cleto Reyes to be a proudly Mexican company that is recognized and greatly admired throughout the world.

Being pioneers in many aspects, both Elizabeth and Memo recognized that Don José Sulaimán was a fundamental part in this ongoing evolution, since together with his father, they worked long hours, exploring and seeing what improvements could be made to the gloves. One which proved to be vitally essential, was attaching the thumb to the glove, as well as padding improvements.

The chat was fluent and flowed, because among all these anecdotes, it was inevitable to remember more personal moments of the closeness that the Reyes family has with the Sulaimáns. Of all those days when Don Alberto met with his friend Don José to talk about plans work, but also boxing, a subject that kept them busy for hours.

At this point,  Mr. Mauricio Sulaimán, deeply thanked the affection and friendship that has always existed between them, but in a very special way the camaraderie at work, in promoting together ideas of commemorative gloves that have been spectacular, being faithful to the values of the brand, while preserving the quality of a product even when the competition exerts a lot of pressure.
