As every day, round 18 of our WBC TALK started at 11am on the dot, and this time we had very special guests who spoke about the work of Scholas Ocurrentes, a realized dream of His Holiness Pope Francis.
PANEL:
Mauricio Sulaimán WBC President
José María del Corral
Enrique Adolfo Palmeyro
Román Rodríguez
Héctor Sulaimán Saldívar
From its beginnings, Pope Francis dreamed of Scholas as the possibility of giving a concrete answer to the call of this era, with the challenge of educating and promoting culture exchange, by creating a whole a new culture: The Culture of Encounter.
Today, Scholas is constituted as an International Pontifical Organization, with centers in: Argentina, Vatican City, Colombia, Spain, Haiti, Japan, Italy, Mexico, Mozambique, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal and Romania, working with 190 countries, integrating more than 400 thousand educational centers and reaching more than one million children and young people worldwide.
For Héctor Sulaimán, President of the Advisory Council of Scholas Occurrentes Mexico, this program is a miracle, and it`s marvelous to see how a young person starts, completes and leaves a different person free of fear. Lonely people who in Scholas have found friends, unity and love.
Mauricio Sulaimán, President of the WBC, explained that Scholas is that place where through certain experiences, spaces of learning are generated with the formation of values such as resilience, teamwork, respect, honesty, effort and the spirit of solidarity. Harmonizing and unity of young people living in contexts of vulnerability.
Jose María del Corral President of Scholas Occurrentes said: “if education is taken seriously, if we as teachers, as a society, listen to the pain that young people have, this may change and change the whole world.”
He added: “The Pope really believes that the only way to get ahead is through education and education that leads to the encounter.” He explained that, by opening ourselves up to meet other human beings, this will bring us back into contact with life, and from there, create a new world.
Within this emotional talk, we were also able to enjoy exciting videos in which we appreciated the work of Scholas with inspiration developed in the young people who rated this program as: “A platform that gave us wings, made us understand that young people are not only the future but also the present.”
BOXVAL-FIGHTING FOR PEACE has carried the message of His Holiness Pope Francis, with the task of serving children in search of a better future, regardless of religion, race or color, clearly showing us that despite our beliefs or how different we may be from each other, we are one big family striving for peace and equality.
We invite you to enjoy this interesting TALK and share the experiences that our panelists have gained since the Scholas program began.
