A sad start to “Coffee Tuesday” as WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán gave the news of the death of our beloved Pepe Mora.
Another issue addressed was that the fight that Julio Cesar “Rey Martinez” WBC flyweight champion Vs Puerto Rican Mac Williams Arroyo in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which is postponed, since Rey reported a throat infection that does not allow him to be one hundred percent ready in time.
Chiquita Boxing announced its closed-door billboard that will take place on August 14, where two WBC world champion idols will give an exhibition fight with the sole objective of reviving boxing. Humberto González and Daniel Zaragoza, who shedding a few pounds and readying to put on their gloves and give the public a unique and unforgettable moment. Daniel aims to be 65 kilos, while Chiquita will be a tad lighter at 62 kilos.
The card will have the participation of several pro fighters, since the intention is to promote young talents to improve their economic condition. Humberto explained that the card will be complying with all the sanitation protocols set by the WBC, as well as COVID-19 tests and sanitization of the site.
It was announced the WBC University certification courses for, a referees and judges program that has already given excellent results. President of the WBC offered 15 scholarships for media who wish to participate.
Mauricio Sulaimán announced that the work for the virtual WBC convention is advancing very well, and he predicted that this event, despite the logistics, will be unique for the entire boxing family.
Before concluding the meeting, Mauricio was very happy to see that Bridger Walker, a brave 6-year-old boy from Wyoming, who rescued his sister from the attack of a dog and whom the WBC named THE NEW WORLD CHAMPION, has received the iconic Green and Gold Belt.
