WBC Ratings and Mandatories at Hamburg Convention

A marathon session exploring, charting and deciding boxing hierarchy.

At Straw weight. Beaven Sibanda goes from fifteen to thirteen. Champion Melvin Jerusalem came to the stage to tank the WBC for its confidence.

Light fly. No change.

Flyweight. Atem Dalakian returns to number eleven from fifteen.

Super fly. Don Majeski is praised by Mauricio Sulaiman for his unstinting support of Lennox Lewis, and for his work, a Lifetime Achievement Award. He gives thanks for Andrew Moloney being ranked number two.

Super feather. Khalil El Hadri number 19 and William Vargas number 30 fight for the vacant WBC silver belt. Sixth ranked Michael Magnesi will fight the winner.

Super lightweight Dalton Smith ranked three moves up a place. Jack Catterall is now number three.

Bantamweight champion Junto Nakatani who has successfully fought two defenses, is awarded with a WBC Statue. He thanked Mauricio and the WBC Family.

Light heavyweight.

Cruiserweight. Michael Cieslak moves from one to three. Ryan Rozicki NABF champion is moved from two to one. He recently drew with Yamil Alberto Peralta, who resumes at two. Badou Jack champion in recess says he’s ready and available to fight again. Preferably against Noel Mikaelian.

Bridgerweight. Serhiy Radchenko the silver champion, in person greets the Convention. Dean says the division is coming into to its own.

Heavyweight.

Lawrence Okolie the new silver champion who is ranked five greets the Convention with the belt draped on his right shoulder. He is moved to four.

Afternoon session:

Straw weight champion Melvin Jerusalem can choose a voluntary defense.

Yokasta Valle will fight against Interim Champion Umi Ishikawa. A face off on stage.

flyweight. Champion Kenshiro Teraji will fight a voluntary defense.

Super fly. Jessie “Bam” Rodriguez just defeated Pedro Guevara and can now fight a voluntary. Andrew Moloney and Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez will fight for mandatory spot.

Bantamweight champion Junto Nakatani is in voluntary phase. Dina Thorslund can’t find challengers to fight and so will move up categories.

Super bantam. Undisputed champion Naoya Inoue fights Australia’s Sam Goodman on Christmas Eve.

Featherweight. Brandon “Heartbreaker” Figueroa will rematch Stephen Fulton. While number one ranked Bruce Carrington to fight an eliminator.

Woman champion Skye Nicolson seeks a unification. Or a defense against Tiara Brown. Former champion Jelena Mrdjenovich who has been boxing for twenty years, says she wants one final goodbye title opportunity.

Super feather. O’Shaquie Foster who won back the title is now in voluntary phase. Final eliminator will be Mark Magsayo and Eduardo “Rocky” Hernandez.

Delfine Persoon is granted an immediate rematch against champion Alycia Baumgartner after their no contest draw. Delfine suffered a cut after an accidental clash of heads.

Lightweight. Voluntary defense for Shakur Stevenson against Floyd Schofield. Interim champion William Zepeda is healing from a shoulder injury.

Caroline Dubois is elevated to full champion and presented her belt. Katie Taylor vacated and is now super lightweight champion.

Super light. Mandatory challenger Sandor Martin fights champion Alberto Puello March 1st. Third ranked Dalton Smith wants an official eliminator bout.

Former undisputed champion Chantelle Cameron Reps want her to become mandatory challenger to Irish Katie Taylor. But then agreed to a trilogy fight between Taylor and Amanda Serrano.

Super welterweight. Terence Crawford is champion Sebastian Fundora’s mandatory challenger.

Middleweight. Carlos Adames will have two mandatories. Firstly against Hamzah Sheeraz. Then, the winner fights Meirim Nursultanov.

Super middle. Saul Canelo Alvarez is in voluntary phase. Christian Mbilli fights Jaime Munguia for the interim belt. Female champion Franchon Crews Dezurn is in voluntary phase.

Undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev rematches Dimitri Bivol on February 22nd. Interim champion David Benavides vs David Morell. The winner faces who wins Beterbiev vs Bivol Two.

Cruiserweight champion Noel Mikaelian was to fight mandatory defence against Ryan Rozicki but it fell through. Now a legal process could entangle matters.

Badou Jack, who champion in recess, is now elevated back to full champion. Ryan will fight him. Peralta and Cieslak fight for the interim title. Noel is now champion in recess.

Bridgerweight champion Kevin Larena will fight silver champion Serhiy Radchenko in Kiev on February 22. There will be an interim between Krzysztof Wlodarczyk and number one ranked Adam Balski.

Heavyweight. An interim fight between Agit Kabayal and Zhilei Zhang.
