
DOHA, Qatar.- Mauricio Sulaimán Saldivar, President of the World Boxing Council (WBC), joins the High Level Council “Save the Dream”, to help promote the positive values of the sport among the youth of the world.
The WBC President is a welcome addition to the Save the Dream High-Level Council comprising of eminent international personalities from different fields including: Staffan De Mistura, Former Under-Secretary-General and United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon; Jose Ramos-Horta, Nobel Prize Laureate and former President of East Timor; Mohamed Hanzab, Chairman of the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS); HE Sheikha Hessa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the Arab League for Humanitarian Affairs; Youssou N’Dour, Senegalese music legend; Iván Dibos, IOC Member; Marcia L. Dyson, civic-social activist; and Raffaele Chiulli, President of Sport Accord and of the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF).
Commenting on his new role, Mauricio said,“I am very pleased to be joining Save the Dream High -Level Council, and for having the privilege to contribute to this movement in a meaningful way. We at the WBC believe in and share the same values and objectives in terms of inspiring youth through boxing, providing safe, fair, and inclusive sporting environment regardless of one’s religion, race or creed.
“Together, we pledge to develop a variety of activities across the world, to enable youth to benefit and learn from boxing, increase their knowledge about sport and the values of sportsmanship, and to learn how to cope with challenges.”
