the exhibition called “Green and Gold” was inaugurated with great interest and expectation in the Mexican Senate, in which more than 60 pieces related to boxing are on display.
The people in charge of inaugurating this WBC exhibition were the President of the body Mauricio Sulaimán and Senator Lorenia Iveth Valles.
In the “Green and Gold” exhibition, visitors will be able to learn the most striking details of this sport, since emblematic articles of the greatest boxing figures are on display, making it an experience that attendees can enjoy.
The exhibition includes a variety of belts, from the first generation awarded between 1975 and 1978, to the Diamond belt, commemorative belts and the belt that was sent into space in 2014.
Mauricio Sulaimán explained that the belts have undergone various modifications throughout the five generations, highlighting some special belts made of onyx, gold, diamond and emerald.
He also mentioned that the famous boxer Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez has received almost all the belts due to his fights in May and September, and highlighted the evolution of the women’s belt, which began in 2004 with a small and aesthetic design and was later adapted to match the size of the men’s belt, eliminating the flower piping and the word “female.”
The exhibition hall pays tribute to the great WBC champions, adorned with portraits and brief accounts of the achievements of iconic figures such as Julio Cesar Chavez, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny Pacquiao, Muhammad Ali, Saul Alvarez, among others.
