WBC Green and Gold Belt Celebrities: Francisco Palencia

The World Boxing Council Green and Gold Belt has been used to recognize the champions of the different divisions in the sport.

It has been worn by great monarchs in boxing history, Muhammad Ali, Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, Julio César Chávez, Sugar Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson, among many more.

On this occasion we present Francisco Palencia, renowned Mexican athlete.

Palencia is a former Mexican soccer player and coach who played in top-level teams such as Cruz Azul, Pumas, Chivas, among others.

At the international level, he was part of the Mexico youth team that participated in the 1995 Pan American Games, winning the silver medal.

He also participated in the 1996 Olympic Games, reaching the quarterfinals. In 1996 he made his debut in the main team, where he played in the 1998 France World Cup and the 2002 Korea and Japan World Cup.

He was crowned champion of the 1998 Gold Cup and the 1999 Confederations Cup.
