The initiative will offer athletes and promoters the opportunity to broadcast their fights and connect with fans, given the new context generated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The World Boxing Council (WBC) and VIVE Network are working together to introduce to the world the first 24/7 professional boxing channel: WBC CHANEL. The entertainment channel will be released in the coming weeks and the programming will include weekly talk shows such as “WBC Talks,” “In The Ring,” as well as promotional content featuring upcoming fights and leading athletes.
The idea of launching this initiative was reinforced by the COVID-19 pandemic that seriously affected the realization of live sporting events. This situation served as an impetus to provide an alternative to many promoters and athletes, and to keep ourselves in their corner to help the boxing activity, due to the closures and the limitations to admit the public in the arenas and gyms.
Backed by world-class technology partners, WBC CHANNEL will allow promoters to stream and monetize more cards, including fights of all kinds, from 4-round matches, to world title fights, always with the highest quality and offering low costs of production.
VIVE Network has designed a plan to employ virtual production, with the goal of leveling the playing field for promoters of all scales, by providing a platform to showcase the talents of young boxers in a more accessible environment and boost their professional careers.
The channel will attract fans of our sport, who will be able to access high quality broadcasts through devices that have high and ultra high definition (UHD or HDR).
Boxing fans around the world will be able to access the WBC / VIVE app via a free download available on various platforms such as Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Google TV (Android TV), Roku Channel Store, and Smart TV.
This joint initiative will not only benefit the sport of boxing, but also its fans around the world. Athletes and promoters who want to learn more about this global platform, tap into its audiences, expand their visibility, and generate potential revenue can contact the WBC at contact@wbcboxing.com.
Media companies interested in distributing and broadcasting professional boxing features with high image quality will be able to contact the VIVE Network directly.
