At “Coffee Tuesday” the WBC commemorated Women’s International Day and the boxing family underwent a study of 25-Hydroxy to gauge our levels of vitamin D in the blood totally FREE.
The WBC has always prioritized the health of boxers plus the entire boxing family. And that is precisely why today we raised awareness about the importance of vitamin D, an essential nutrient to enhance performance, which acts directly on the nervous system, strengthening the immune system and directly influences the absorption and metabolism of phosphorus and calcium.
In addition, vitamin D prevents diabetes, high blood pressure and autoimmune diseases.
Dr. Ernesto García Rubí explained that low concentrations of vitamin D make us more prone to respiratory diseases and clarified that various investigations have shown that only 2% of the population has the recommended daily amount.
We can obtain vitamin D3 through 3 main ways: controlled sun exposure, through diet in foods of plant or animal origin and through supplements.
He also explained that vitamin D functions as an important regulator of inflammation and innate immunity, helping our body to defend itself against invading pathogenic bacteria, fungi and viruses.
It is imperative that we know our vitamin D levels, since there is no better medicine than preventive medicine.
