The “Swift” “Truth” is that former two divisions world champion, and now challenger Danny Garcia and World Boxing Council welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. held an entertaining, but mutually respectful press conference prior to their highly anticipated fight, that will take place on Saturday, December 5. at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Spence was accompanied during the event by his coach Derrick James, while Garcia was accompanied by his father and coach Angel Garcia.
Here are their comments:
Errol Spence Jr:
“I feel blessed and ready for combat. I feel 100% physically ready. We have been training hard and staying focused. I can’t wait to give the fans of my city joy when I defend my title against a great opponent.
“I didn’t want preparation fights. I wanted someone who is tough and can push me to the limit. I’m going to put on a great performance and defend my title on December 5.
“I am still the best in the division. Fighting Danny will show on what level I am. I’ll be ready for whatever Danny brings to the ring.
“The accident I had made me feel hungrier and even more focused. I’m just as hungry as I was before I won the title. I’m coming to camp much lighter and it’s helping me having an even better camp. I’m the champion, and at the end of the day, I can fight. When the limit is reached, I know how to dig deep and get to the top.”
“Training camp has been very good. My weight is excellent, and I feel like we are ahead of schedule. Now we are only taking it one day at a time. I am excited to be in this position to fight for the title again.
“On December 5 we are going to offer 110% and take away these titles in his own hometown. I have been an underdog my entire career. I am used to playing that role. I just have to go in there and be myself. I have to believe in myself 100a percent and fight round after round.
“After the Micky Garcia and Porter fights, I saw some mistakes in his boxing and I knew it would be a good opportunity to be champion again. These types of fights bring out the best in Danny Garcia. They give me the extra motivation I need.
“I thought Spence was the bigger and better man against Mikey Garcia. Mikey has great skills, but Errol was big, and he let his hands go. That made Mikey freeze so he didn’t take any chances. He did some good kickbacks, and that. it’s the kind of thing I’m taking into consideration during this camp.
“I know I’m a great fighter. I’ve been in these types of fights before. I know what I’m made of. As long as I’m mentally and physically at my best, no one can beat me. I’m a dangerous man when I have this approach.”
