The super featherweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Oscar Valdez and the American Shakur Stevenson, WBO champion, will clash in one of the most anticipated fights this year, on April 30 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The Mexican champion comes to this fight after fighting a difficult battle against the Brazilian Robson Conceiçao, whom he defeated via a close decision.
Stevenson comes to this fight after defeating Jamel Herring by technical knockout, to snatch the WBO championship from him.
Both champions come into this match with undefeated records. Valdez is 30-0 with 23 KO’s while Stevenson has 17 wins with 9 knockouts.
“I want to make it clear that I am the best 130-pound fighter in the world. We know that Shakur Stevenson is very good at fighting, but he is even better at speaking on social media. I will let my fists do the talking on April 30,” Valdez said.
“I have been chasing this fight for almost three years since we were both at featherweight. On April 30th, I will show him and the world why he dodged me all this time. I am the best fighter in the world and I will become a unified champion,” Shakur said.
The fight will be broadcast on ESPN.
