Usyk to finally debut as a heavyweight

Former unified world cruiserweight champion, Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, is coasting towards a clash against undefeated American fighter, Tyrone Spong, for his much anticipated heavyweight debut, on October 12, at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois and this spectacular will be televised by DAZN.

For the 2012 Olympic gold medalist of Ukraine, his return to the ring will mark his first fight since he knocked out British Tony Bellew in eighth rounds last November.

That victory was the pinnacle summit of a fantastic 2018 campaign, where the Ukrainian champion won the World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight tournament and unified the cruiser division by defeating Marco Huck, Mairis Briedis and Murat Gassiev.

Usyk (16-0, 12 knockouts), who will fight for the first time in 2019 and for the first time as heavyweight, is considered among the best pounds per pound fighters today. Yet he`ll have a tough test against hard hitting undefeated and ambitious Tyrone Spong (14-0 13 KOs).

33-year-old Tyrone Sponge, WBC Latino champion comes from defending his belt last December against Ytalo Perea.
