During the WBC Women’s Summit 2025, at the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, a moving tribute was paid to the young boxer Jesselyn “JessZilla” Silva, who suffered from brain cancer.
The strategic alliance between the World Boxing Council (WBC) and CURE Childhood Cancer was reiterated in honor of Jesselyn “JessZilla” Silva, and the award-winning documentary that follows the extraordinary career of the three-time national boxing champion was also remembered.
“Jesslyn Silva’s story is one of heart, courage, and resilience: values that define the spirit of boxing. Her career is a testament to the strength of the human spirit, and we are honored to support this important film and its message, which is a true tribute to the sport,” said Mauricio Sulaimán.
Directed by Emily Sheskin, produced by Ben Kainz, and executive produced by Versus, JessZilla captures the powerful five-year journey of Jesselyn Silva, a talented young boxer fighting her way to the Junior Olympic team, until an unexpected cancer diagnosis forces her to fight for her life. The film is both an inspiring sports story and an intimate father-daughter adventure, showcasing the unwavering dedication of Pedro Silva, Jesselyn’s father. With over 25 official festival selections and six awards, JessZilla is winning hearts around the world, proving that the will to fight goes far beyond the ring.
Together, JessZilla and the WBC will host special screenings in key boxing cities, timed around major WBC cards and events to maximize attendance for boxers and media.
In addition to their collaboration with the WBC, the JessZilla documentary team has selected CURE Childhood Cancer as a beneficiary of their impact initiatives. For press inquiries, screenings, or sponsorship opportunities, please contact Betsy Watson at betsy@aodcomms.com
