David Benavidez (20-0 with 17 KO’s) shook, rattled and almost rolled J’Leon Love AT & T Stadium at Arlington.
From the opening bell “Red Flag” used his long ramrod left jab to set up his opponent for straight rights, uppercuts and clusters of hooks. While J`Love began working the body, Benavidez’s superior and no nonsense momentum had Love in deep trouble… and fast.! By the end of the first three minute, Love had also collected a cut over his left eye.
Benavidez quickly trapped Love on the ropes at the start of the second and unleashed an irresistible barrage. It was beyond “A labor of love,” so Referee Laurance Cole smartly moved in to save the shell shocked J`leon from more punishment, waving it off at one minute and fourteen seconds. David, who`s a veritable Goliath at this weight, improved his record to twenty one wins with eighteen KO`s and no defeats. It`s Love`s third loss, two of which via KO.
