Irishman TJ Doheny (26-4/20KOs), 37, is already in Tokyo to challenge the undisputed and undefeated Japanese super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue (27-0/24KOs), 31, on September 3 at Ariake Arena in Tokyo.
TJ Doheny arrived from the city of Springfield in the State of Massachusetts in the USA, where he was in a special training camp for ten weeks with the guidance and direction of his trainer Hector Bermudez, in preparation for this opportunity to face Inoue.
Doheny, who had a training session open to the Japanese media, commented: “I know that I am not the favorite in the predictions before the fight against Naoya Inoue. That does not matter to me at all, because I came to Japan to win. I can say that I am excited as never before about this great opportunity to become world champion.”
Doheny is a fighter who has never been knocked out in his entire career. Doheney now has three consecutive wins since his decision loss to undefeated Australian Sam Goodman in Sydney, Australia in March 2023.
Doheny will have his fifth fight in Japan, boasting 4 wins and three knockouts in this country.
