Exactly one week ago, challenger Alejandra “Tigre” Jimenez, on the party line to the WBC`s Martes a Café Presser, and under intense pressure to succeed with the super middleweight belt on the line, vowed to buckle down and defeat champion Franchon Crews Dezurn in The Battle of San Antonio.
Never one to waste time, Alejandra triumphed with a split decision in a ring war, and now the waist has passed the test of time! As Mexico`s first ever heavyweight champion, back then, Alejandra could hardly fit the famous an ample belt around her middle. But now the slimline Ale, who`s dieted down via sushi and fish, in nothing short of a mental as well as physical transformation, fitted this three notch belt on with ease today, with one notch to spare. No other place than Mexico City`s Food Market, would have been an appropriately fitting location that would matter. The platter was the latter!
in the presence of her Dad and alongside her flamboyant brimming with pride Promoter Pepe Gomez, Supremo of Cancun Boxing, who was sporting a sparkling Indiana Jones wide brim hat, Alejandra was presented with her second Belt by World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman, who also gave her a wrist belt for everyday use. Alejandra remarked that this time, this belt fitted just perfectly.
Always a clean fighter, she had passed a battery of anti doping tests…five in total, to prove it was six to eight hours of daily training at the Spartan Otomi High Altitude Training Center, the dedication of her Team and the careful attention of her nutritionist, plus her heart and soul dedication, which has achieved this extraordinary feat.
And double division world champion Alejandra says she now wants to fight triple weight category champion Claressa Shields for the WBC middleweight belt. Calm, collected and focused, she was four pounds under the 168 pounds limit at the weigh in for this super middleweight supreme test, which she described as her most intense and complicated fight ever, vowing she can shed yet another four pounds to take on “T Rex.”
Esto newspaper is the bible of Boxing throughout the Americas, and its brilliant Boxing Chief Reporter Jose Luis Camarillo who first perceptively spotted the fisticuff promise of Alejandra at the Pancho Rosales Gym, alerted Cancun Boxing, to the presence of a glittering hidden gem. Loyal as ever, Alejandra invited Camarillo up to the podium to share this sweet moment of joy…obviously minus any calories.
Quantifying the magnitude of this triumph, Alejandra said: “For me this signifies my complete life and everyone who`s helped me get here. This belt is the reward for all of our efforts. This was the best fight of my career… so far. It was the culmination of an incredible preparation thanks to everyone who was helping me at Otomi. Getting ready for this I changed all the aspects of my life, for my life, for my career and for me. This is one of the very best moments of my life.”
