American Tiara “Dark Menace” Brown successfully defended her WBC Featherweight World Title for the first time, defeating French fighter Ema Gongora by unanimous decision at the Bayou Music Center in Houston, Texas.
The fight started with a surprise, as Gongora came out aggressively, taking the early rounds with solid combinations that challenged the champion. “She outworked me in the first round, and then my trainer slapped me and said, ‘It’s time to work!’ That’s when I reacted,” Brown said.
From the fourth round onward, Brown adjusted her strategy, took control, and by the fifth round was clearly dominating. In the final rounds, she sought a knockout, but Gongora’s resilience prevented it. “I wanted to finish the show with a KO for the fans, but she is very tough, she came to fight, and I’m happy with the result,” Brown said.
The judges scored the fight 100-90, 100-90, and 98-92 in favor of the champion.
