“Thunder” strikes thrice to retain silver title

Dalton Smith retained his WBC Silver super lightweight title on Saturday.

“Thunder” Smith faced Mathieu Germain at the Park Community Arena to dispute the WBC silver belt.

After 6 fights, it was the turn of the Briton and the Canadian to fight. Both had an intense encounter.

Germain went down in the second, eleventh and twelfth round. Dalton Smith was in control of the fight the entire fight. In the last round, “Thunder” had a point taken away for a low blow.

The judges’ scorecards were: 119-105, 119-105 and 117-107 to give Dalton Smith the unanimous decision victory.

This is the second successful defense for the Briton, Smith is projected as a strong contender for a title shot.
