Souleymane Cissokho, originally from Dakar, Senegal, and World Boxing Council Silver Welterweight Champion, will defend his title for the second time against Egidijus Kavaliauskas in a bout that will also be an eliminator, on May 10 at the Sipopo Conference Centre in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
Cissokho was originally scheduled to face Kavaliauskas in December of last year, but a broken wrist sidelined the Senegalese fighter.
Earlier this year, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman announced that 2025 would be the Year of Africa. A year in which the continent’s achievements, history, and champions will be honored.
This celebration has featured several important events, the most recent being the fight between WBC Bridger champion Kevin Lerena, who retained his title by defeating Serhiy Radchenko.
This Friday, both warriors passed the official weigh-in without any problems, weighing in at just under 147 pounds, and are ready for this card, part of the Year of Africa.
The supervisor of this fight will be ABU President and WBC Vice President Houcine Houichi.
Rounding out the card will be interesting bouts:
Nico Ali Walsh vs. Ebenezer Sowah
Kevin Lele Sadjo vs. Habib Ahmed
Amari Jones vs. Kyle Lomotey
