Each September 21st is Alzheimer`s Day, to honor and help those who battle this devastatingly cruel illness, which robs memory, so standing together we MUST fight with all our wit, initiative and might to find a cure, to alleviate so much suffering combined with anguish.
This oh so special day has been commemorated since 2012, and it`s aim is to raise global awareness of Alzheimer`s, as so many of us have no real conception of this terrible robbing illness, which filches, jumbles and destroys memory. It`s a progressive degeneration which corrodes memory and other important mental functions. Brain cells connections degenerate and die. This impacts thought, behavior and memory.
There is no cure of Alzheimer`s yet. But medication and therapies can slow down its ravaging destruction, buying time. It is the most common form of dementia and almost one in ten of us will develop it. That`s how close to home it is! this illness is mostly found in people who are older than sixty five, but it is broadening its terrible range to affect many thousands who are younger, and in the prime of life.
Anyone who loves and deeply cares for someone suffering from Alzheimer`s can relate to the heartbreaking progressive affect it wreaks. There are tears and great sorrow. We can, we must and we will defeat it by finding a cure. But it can`t be done unless we all work together, help, donate and NEVER give up.
The World Boxing Council joins this monumental battle with the desire and the will to do everything we can to help. Think deeply and dig deep!
