The WBC wishes Pacquiao great success in his future plans

Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao, better known as Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, recently announced his candidacy for the Philippine presidential election, so it is almost a certain that he will be retiring from boxing.

Manny was born on December 17th 1978, in a small town called Kibawe, Bukidnon. In 65 fights he achieved 57 wins, 6 losses and two draws. He has fought in eight different divisions achieving six world titles.

Pacquiao began his history with the World Boxing Council by winning the OPBF championship in 1997 by knocking out Chokchai Chockvivat of Thailand, which earned him a chance to contest a world title, which came in 1998. Manny was crowned fly champion of the WBC knocking out Thai Chatchai Sasakul on his own home turf. Over the years he held Green and Gold Championships in the super bantamweight and super featherweight divisions.

In 2002, Pacquiao came to fight in the United States offering spectaculars and increasing his popularity worldwide to become a phenomenon in his country and the whole world, thrilling millions of followers.

Among the boxers he has defeated are: Agapito Sánchez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Márquez, with whom he won the WBC super featherweight title, David Díaz, whom he defeated to win the WBC lightweight title, Erik Morales, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto , with whom he won the WBC Diamond belt, Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito, to win the WBC super welterweight title, Oscar de la Hoya (All World Championships). He`s noted for triumphs against Mexican boxer being nicknamed the “Devourer of Mexicans.”

“Pacman” is a boxer who has transcended sports, as he has a brilliant political career. He is a professional basketball player, as well, acting and singing . His charisma has earned him fame globally. He is a superstar!
