
This morning in the traditional “Coffee Tuesdays” the President of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaimán, and the President of the CDMX COMBOX, Ciro Nucci, announced the adherence of boxing to the celebrations of April 6, International Sports Day, for Development and Peace.
An opportunity to celebrate the power of sport to drive social change, community development, to encourage equity and inclusion and to foster peace and understanding between people, communities and nations.
Mauricio Explained that boxing is the main tool to bring a message of peace to all corners of the world, as well as a motivation for children and young people. To follow their dreams and move them away from addictions and violence, bringing them closer to a different way of life that allows them to develop in an integral way.
He thanked in a very special way all those who have joined this great movement and urged all sports and educational entities, national and international Olympic committees, federations and athletes to be part of the #whitecard campaign that promote positive and constructive values of the sport and that each year reaches millions of people through social networks.
The #WhiteCard is recognized as the symbol used to celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace on April 6 since 2013.
Ciro Nucci, the President of the CDMX COMBOX, stressed that sport is the best ally of health, development and union between societies, social change, to encourage equity and inclusion and to promote peace and understanding between people, communities and nations. Hence the importance of uniting and making known the power of sport.
He explained that sport is the way to promote values such as peace, brotherhood, solidarity, tolerance, teamwork and justice and therefore it is everyone’s responsibility to spread this message and be part of this movement.
Mauricio Sulaiman also presented Mr. Fernando Flores Fernández, Mayor of Metepec, State of Mexico, with a commemorative medal in recognition of his participation and support of this campaign.
Finally, both leaders invited those present to be part of this great global movement by participating in the #whitecard campaign, where all you have to do is take a photo holding a white card and upload it to social networks using the hashtag #whitecard.
