The World Boxing Council and its president, Mauricio Sulaimán, express their deepest condolences for the death of the former WBC superlight world champion American Saoul Mamby, originally from the Bronx, in New York, who died this week at 72 years of age.
Mamby, one of the oldest boxers to ever fight, participated in a 60-year sanctioned match in 2008, and was much appreciated throughout his 85-fight career. Making his professional debut in 1969, Mamby shared the ring with fighters like Roberto Durán, Buddy McGirt and Ronnie Shields.
All the WBC Family sends condolences to the family, rest in peace!
