The WBC pays tribute to the Great Rafael Herrera

In an emotional tribute, the WBC and the entire boxing family recognized the great former world champion Rafael Herrera.

A man who has led his life with honor and dignity, becoming an example for all those young people who are starting out in the world of gloves.

Rafael, who reigned in the bantamweight division from 1972 to 1974, was moved, because how he himself mentioned:

“Time is cruel and on many occasions when retirement time arrives, people forget who one was and the feats in the ring… friends move away and suddenly only the memories of a yesterday that will not return remain.

“It is sad, but we cannot deny that it is a reality, that is why these moments are invaluable because they make me feel that I am still part of boxings. Thanks, WBC ”

Mauricio Sulaiman praised the words of the great champion and did not miss the opportunity to remember those years of glory of Rafael where he faced the best of the best, including and just to mention a few Rubén Olivares, Rodolfo Martínez & Romeo Anaya.

A life dedicated to boxing that led him to become President of the Federal District Boxing Commission where he did an impeccable for our sport.

For Mr. Sulaimán, Rafael is an inspiration and an example inside and outside the ring, for this reason and accompanied by another great world champion Humberto González. They presnted him a green and gold bracelet, so that he always remembers the affection and admiration that the boxing family has for him.
