We have received the very, very sad news concerning the passing of our dear friend and colleague Bob Logist, a monumental figure whose dedication and leadership shaped European boxing forever.
From Belgian, Bob dedicated and devoted a large part of his life to boxing. His tireless service began in 1979, establishing himself as a universally trusted and respected ring official. Throughout his distinguished career, Bob officiated countless bouts as a judge, referee, and supervisor, where his impartiality, knowledge of the rules, decency and commitment to boxer safety, were always exemplary. His presence was synonymous with fairness and professionalism in the ring. A keen mind and a safe pair hand adding up to total dependability.
The pinnacle of Bob’s legacy came with his leadership as President of the European Boxing Union (EBU), a position he accomplished in 2007. During his presidency, Bob Logist was a driving force in the development and promotion of European boxing. With his wise guidance, the EBU prospered, consolidating its reputation as one of the most influential and respected boxing organizations worldwide. His vision fostered, nurtured and encouraged the growth of emerging talent, insuring fair opportunities for pugilists, while maintaining the steadfast integrity of the sport across a diverse continent.
“One of the best judges in boxing history, who presided over the European Boxing Union. A faithful member of the WBC and a true gentleman. Rest in peace,” commented WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman.
Bob will always be remembered as an honest, decent, loyal and wonderful person committed to his work, but even more as a great human being and a marvelous friend who made a such a difference.
The entire WBC family asks God to receive their new Angel in Paradise. We send our deepest condolences to the entire family of our dear Bob, and to the many friends he made and cherished the World over.
