The World Boxing Council and its President, Mauricio Sulaimán, are greatly saddened by the death of Rogerio Azcárraga Madero, founding President of Grupo Formula, one of the most important radio channels in Mexico.
Azcárraga Madero, who passed away this Tuesday at the age of 94, was born in Mexico City on June 6, 1927. He is considered a pioneer of radio in Mexico. He founded Radio Distrito Federal, the forerunner of what is now Grupo Formula, which has five stations with national and international reach.
In 1958 Azcarraga Madero, passionate about culture and entertainment, founded Discos Orfeon to promote Mexican music and boost the record industry in the Spanish-speaking world.
We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Azcarraga at this difficult and sad time.
Rest in Peace.
